My exam is in 5 days and I believe this is why I have not been able to sleep. The stress of it is keeping me up at night- to the point that I may just get up and start studying again! Blurggg!
At least, I’ll be very close to the test site…

This lovely place is where I’ll be staying at during my test…at least it’s close to fun!

Two week countdown!

My exam is in exactly 14 days! Am I nervous? No. Am I afraid I am going to forget all the information I am reviewing? Possibly. I did a bit of research into how to have a better memory- better yet, how to be smarter. I ran across a blog called There were a few recommendations that worked for him, and so I decided to try a few. I picked up a few supplements on Tuesday- Cholline, Ginko Billoba, fish oil and spirulina. Now the cholline I had never really heard of. Its supposed to help with memory and with metabolism. Ginko has a history of helping with memory from what I read- these were two of the few that were recommended. Fish oil I got because I don’t eat fish and I figured I should have it. Spirulina is supposed to be a superfood. I bought it a long time ago at Sprouts in powder form and I couldn’t stomach it. So this time I bought it in pill form. So far? I feel more awake- I don’t feel groggy when I wake up. As far as memory? The exam will tell.

Another thing he mentioned was exercising in the morning. This I kind of knew because I used to work out in the morning. Then I got lazy and stopped. This was the first morning that I woke up and did Yoga- the Jillian Michael’s yoga. I find that it wakes me up but doesn’t wipe me out. And so far, I’m not yawning or wanting to go back to sleep.

One of the other things he recommended was I had seen commercials for this a while back. Its supposed to be a brain workout for about 15 minutes a day. I used it a few times, but in order to continue, there is a monthly fee. Now its a fairly affordable fee, but I suppose you could just play chess or checkers. I may try it out and see if there is a difference- maybe after my exam.

I will report back and see if any of these supplements actually made a long term difference. I have found that visualization is pretty good at helping my memory, but I want to see if any of these things enhance it! Have a lovely day!

Countdown to exam time

May is a busy month for me- my birthday, anniversary, Mother’s Day, boyfriends birthday, siblings birthdays and parent’s anniversary. Phew! More importantly, this means that I have a month before my baby bar exam happens. Baby bar– what is that? Well, what it is, is a very pricey exam that you must take if you choose your legal education through distance learning (on-line school). I will admit that when I first heard of this method, I was a bit surprised. I had no idea that it existed. I went to UCR  (traditional school campus) so I thought- why would anyone want to go online? Well, when I made the decision to go this route, it was because of convenience and price. I am able to work full time, take care of my son and take on a rigorous legal education- and still have a little time for my personal relationship. Now, don’t get it twisted—it is hard as heck to get this all done in a timely manner. I often am late with assignments- which the school has a great way of getting me back on track- and the house is almost always a mess, but its doable. SO these next few weeks for me will be very very difficult as I will be studying until my eyes bleed. Image

Fun trips with the kid

We took a trip to Las Vegas not too long ago. Living in the high desert, were not too far away. Anyhow, the boyfriend wanted to go to a “shoe convention.” Yes these really exist and they are not just for women. Here, its mostly guys who are very into tennis shoes. So it was mainly just walking around, looking at other peoples shoes. Not bad, just not my idea of what I would want to do in vegas. We also had our two year old son with us, so that being said, it would be impossible to do what I really wanted to do (party!). Don’t get me wrong, I definitely understand that with kids now “fun” consists of different things. So we made it a grownup kid trip. Here are a few pics I snapped as we walked around the place.

We were upgraded because the cheapie room we booked was gone- YES it pays to get to places late!

We stayed at the Luxor hotel–This is my mini taking a picture with an “artifact.”

At the Coliseum right before the show in the middle of the mall. The Greek gods go through another tragedy.

Chinese New Year at the Bellagio.

So to say the least, the trip was fun and there was quite a bit to see. I didn’t catch any of the big shows, or go to any clubs, or even beach clubs, but we still had a lot of fun looking around and eating at several buffets!

At work, as always on the weekends, I go through my Instagram and realize that a lot more people participate in “Sunday Funday” than I ever anticipated. In college and of course, before retail jobs, we had the privilege if participating in said Sunday ritual. But now, nots so much. Unless you of course, plan it a month ahead if time. Or it’s Easter. Kind of takes the fun out if it. But I wonder if, ALL business were closed on a certain day- would that allow for people to connect, to have fun- or is it just not sound business? As a retail worker, were literally open everyday with the exception of Easter, thanksgiving, and Christmas. Now workers are even threatened with having to work thanksgiving. Anyhow, just a random thought.

DIY notebook

This week, I tried a DIY craft that I found in Craftgawker. It’s a cool looking notebook that has storage, cuteness and organization. The DIY comes from Little Den Blog by Rachel Wisterman, and she has detailed instructions on how to do it. Good luck to you if you try it! This is what mine ended up looking like in the end:

Pink camera!!

Last Valentine’s day, the boyfriend graciously gave me an instax mini instant camera… They are just the cutest little cameras ever. They print credit card sized photos which are great for scrapbooks, wallets and putting into frames. Not to mention that amazon has a plethora of cute film. Everything from hello kitty, Alice in wonderland, stars and anything else you can imagine!

They have all sorts of colors for the camera and they’re even releasing an instax printer!!

I’ll probably be getting that when it is available!

My school break

This morning, I was up at 7 a.m. Reading for school. Blah. There’s nothing worse than getting up early on an off day. But work needs to get done, so it gets done. After 5 hours, I took a much needed break at Staples. I needed a replenishment on pens- and pens are basics, so off I went.

Off topic, I parked next to a lady who was smoking. As I was locking my car and slinging my purse to my shoulder, I was disheartened to see an infant in her backseat. It was made me feel a certain type of way— bothered, sad I don’t know. So I walked off so she wouldn’t see my look of disdain.

So getting back to what I wanted to share. I first thing I saw was this color blocked section of simple, but basic office supplies. And Martha Stewart was on sale- not enough to purchase, but cheaper than normal. Anyway, I replenished my pens and got some cups. They look great- on the pricier end but looks nice. And the name says it all. Poppin.

So I left a happy camper. And got the brads and pouch I needed. And of course, the smoker lady was behind me in line, baby and all.

The beauty of silence

I’m the only person home right now. I can hear the clock ticking away, the neighbors dog barking and a slight ring in my ears. My daily life is not a quiet one- my job always has music blasting and customers talking not to mention management getting on us about something we did wrong. So it’s a lovely change to have sounds that are somewhat soothing- except maybe the barking dog. Anyhow, just a random thought. Hope everyone enjoys the extra hour of light!
